A sneak preview inside The Hub

A sneak preview inside The Hub

By The Captain

Many of us will remember the old sports complex at Brickfields – well, it has been reborn as The Hub at Foulston Park & it looks just fantastic – a really great addition to Plymouth’s fitness scene. A mezzanine has been built above the old sports hall, which is still there but much improved. Upstairs is a gym, café, soft play area, the Babcock esports arena and the Bright Suite, a multi-purpose room that will provide space for classes & hospitality.

There are also three partner organisations aimed at helping families, the young & veterans.

The Hub opened fully for business today (Monday, March 18), although classes, such as Pilates, will not start for another week. Details at www.foulstonpark.co.uk/the-hub/

And why Foulston? Well, John Foulston (1772-1841) was the architect who, in 1810, won the competition to design the new Royal Hotel & Theatre. He spent the next 25 years working in Plymouth & built many of the city’s great public buildings. Sadly, most did not survive the blitz, and his main surviving buildings are Devonport’s Town Hall, the Column & the Egyptian House (originally a library and now the Ker Street Social Club).
